We know you’re committed to a healthy pregnancy, healthy baby and a safe delivery. We feel that childbirth preparation is essential for a healthy birth. So in addition to our large lending library of books and videos, Bay Area Birth Center hosts and recommends a variety of childbirth education courses throughout the year. Please contact the instructor directly for more information about a class.

Birth Boot Camp

Cost: ~$350 for 10 classes

Some couples prefer to do education from their own homes and on their own schedules. Birth Boot Camp has wonderful online courses that are comprehensive and come with our stamp of approval.

A Work of Heart: Childbirth Education Class

When: 1-day Intensive Course offered Every Other Month

This intensive weekend course taught my Nicole Deelah is designed to equip couples with practical tools to help them navigate the journey into parenthood when they have chosen a home or birth center birth.
The class covers:
Basic anatomy of pregnancy
Stages of labor and their emotional/physical signs
Needs of a laboring woman
Natural labor and active birthing techniques for coping/assisting the process
Massage
Relaxation through imagery, progressive relaxation, and conditioned/cued response
Developing a birth vision
In the event of a transport
Birth Teams, roles and responsibilities, and how to cope with unsupportive family and friends
After the class, we keep in contact through a community group to offer encouragement and birth stories.

Bradley Method® Classes

When: 12 week series held at Johanna’s house in Sugarland.
Cost: $275

Taught by Johanna and Juan Garcia, certified Bradley instructors, this is a 12-class series that teaches prenatal nutrition an exercise, relaxation techniques, and husband-coached childbirt. From the Bradley Method® web site: “The Bradley Method® teaches natural childbirth and views birth as a natural process. It is our belief that most women with proper education, preparation, and the help of a loving and supportive coach can be taught to give birth naturally.”

Lamaze Classes

Cost: $100

Taught by Dena Rogge. This is a 3 week class that covers everything you need to know about labor and birth. Dena Rogge teaches a Lamaze class that she has developed specifically for our clients. One of the midwives teaches the last class and covers getting off to a good start and the first week after the birth. La Leche League

When:  Birth Center (Pasadena) 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:30am

Open to all women – Pregnant moms and babies welcome!
